Backlit channel letters can be designed using various materials. At MK Neon, we offer stainless steel and acrylic channel letters with backlit LED lighting. You can customize the letters with the finish and color of your choice.
Channels letters are usually backlit with a unique LED color, mostly cold white, warm white, but other color options are also available. See our dedicated blog post to know more about the LED colors.
Depending on the size of your letters and the font you have chosen, we offer two options:
- Without a backing: Each letter is sent to you separately, each wired with an independent cable. All the wires must then be connected to a single transformer.
- With a backing: In this case, you receive your backlit letter sign with the letters' wires already connected to the transformer. This option is generally suitable for signs up to 59 inches (150 cm), but we always adapt the design to meet your specific requirements.

What Are the Best Color Options for Backlit Letters in a Professional Setting?
Choosing colors for backlit letters in a professional environment depends on several factors:
- Your company's visual identity: stick to your brand's color scheme
- The desired atmosphere: cool white may suit a modern space, while warm white creates a cozier ambiance
- Readability: ensure that the chosen color contrasts well with its surroundings
- Versatility: RGB LED systems allow you to change colors as needed
It's recommended to test different options before final installation to ensure the best fit for your specific space. Additionally, take advantage of our advisors' expertise to guide you in selecting the best color choices. They'll help you create 100% custom backlit letters tailored to your brand's color scheme.
What dimensions do you recommend for backlit letters in different professional spaces?
The dimensions of backlit letters should be proportional to the available space and the viewing distance:
- For small spaces (offices, meeting rooms): 15 to 30 cm in height
- For lobbies or large rooms: 30 to 60 cm in height
- For exterior facades: 60 cm and above, depending on the viewing distance
Don't forget to consider local regulations regarding signage, especially for outdoor installations.
What are the best practices for maintaining the quality of backlit letters?
Regular maintenance is essential to keep the professional appearance of your backlit letters.
- Weekly cleaning with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive cleaner suited for the material
- Monthly inspection of electrical connections and immediate replacement of defective LEDs
- Quarterly check of the alignment and attachment of the letters
In dusty environments, consider more frequent cleaning or installing filters.
It's recommended to keep a maintenance log to track interventions and schedule preventive maintenance.
How to optimize the backlit effect for a professional look on your letters?
To achieve an optimal backlit effect in a professional setting:
Maintain a consistent distance between the letters and the wall, generally 3 to 5 cm for an even halo.
- Use high-quality diffusers to avoid visible light spots.
- Ensure that the light intensity is even across all the letters.
- Consider the environment—a reflective surface behind the letters can enhance the effect.
- Install a dimmer to adjust the intensity according to ambient lighting conditions.
A professional installation can ensure that these technical aspects are correctly managed for an optimal result.
